Welcome to the extremely backward regions of Karnataka border. More so Pavagada in Tumkur district. The burning priority for the survival and progress for the locals was health care - long term health care: Cure from Leprosy, TB, Polio etc. Founded in 1991 by Swami Japanandaji, to put into action the soul-stirring call of Swami Vivekananda, - the Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre (SV IRHC) started off as a project to reach out and serve the most affected. In time this health centre grew and now focuses on basic health care including key areas of Child health as well as Leprosy, TB, Polio and Public Health. Focusing on eye care, what started out initially as periodic eye camps for the rural poor became more institutionalized in the form of Sri Sharada Devi Eye Hospital (SSD EH) .
Recently, in 2016, Sri Sharada Devi Institute of Visual Management & Rehabilitation/Training of Differently Abled released the "A Glimpse into the World of Light" detailing
its activities - Read it in English or in Kannada
More successes brought in more responsibilities as well as more patients seeking relief from their chronic sufferings. In collaboration with Narayana Hrudayalaya,Bangalore, a cardiac care unit well supported with Telemedicine technologies was recently started in Sri Ramakrishna Heart Care Clinic (SRK HCC) Apart from the above, a Public Health Centre (PHC) is also being run by us voluntarily at the village of Venkatapura.
